Student Advising Made Easy at The University of South Florida

For a student, mastering the concepts of molecular biology is hard; shouldn't changing an advisor or scheduling a class be easy?

Sidney Fernandes, CIO at the University of South Florida College of Public Health (USF COPH), thinks so. Sidney recognized that USF COPH needed to create the best experience possible for its most important customer -- the student.

At last month's Gartner ITSymposium in Orlando, Florida, Sidney joined ZDNet for a video interview on how USF COPH has leveraged the Appian Cloud platform for rapid development and transformation of the student/advisor relationship within the college.

In the video, Sidney explains how USF COPH used Appian to rapidly modernize how interactions between students and their advisors are conducted and managed. The benefits are numerous: helping accelerate student graduation through effective planning and guidance, documenting these interactions for compliance reporting purposes, replacing paper with electronic forms, and making life a little easier so students can focus on studying and advisors can focus on advising. Today, to change an advisor or schedule a meeting to review classes, a student can pull out their phone and kick off the request...a process as quick and easy as three taps of their thumb.
