Leading Clean Energy Company Recognized for Intelligent, Collaborative Wind Turbine Issue Management Application
RESTON, Va.—July 7 2015— Appian today congratulates EDP Renewables North America (EDPRNA) for being awarded the 2015 Workflow Management Coalition (WFMC) Global Case Management Excellence Award. The awards highlight the best examples of case management technology and business practice innovation in supporting knowledge workers. EDPR NA, a developer, owner, and operator of 36 wind farms and solar parks across North America, was recognized for its Appian-based COBRA (short for “COlaBoRAtion”) system. COBRA leverages Appian’s Application Platform to unite process, rules, events, analytics, native mobility and social business collaboration in an intelligent application to maximize wind turbine up-time and performance. EDP Renewables was honored for this achievement during last week’s BPM Case Management Global Summit gala dinner at The Ritz Carlton Pentagon City, VA.

To transform the industry-standard approach to case and process management of wind energy resources, EDPR designed the COBRA system to enable smarter decision-making through enterprise data management, mobile enablement, and social collaboration using the Appian platform. In its first 24 months of operation, COBRA delivered more than $200M worth in issue solutions and created a searchable knowledge base of detailed solutions for future wind farm management, including the original case’s context, to aid decision making. COBRA also allows EDPR to track the frequency of issues related to specific equipment suppliers. COBRA is rapidly eliminating reliance on email-based issue tracking, collaboration and document sharing: solutions in the Appian system were accessed more than 3,000 times in the solutions first nine months of operation.
