Recordati

Recordati has more than 90 years of history, during which it has grown steadily thanks to the success of its products and the implementation of a decisive policy of internationalisation. Founded in 1926 as the “Laboratorio Farmacologico Reggiano”, starting with a small pharmacy from the early nineteenth century, in 1984 it became the first Italian pharmaceutical company listed on the stock exchange, as proof of the entrepreneurial spirit of the Recordati family.

The Recordati Group produces and promotes a wide range of innovative pharmaceuticals, both general practitioner specialties and pharmaceuticals for the treatment of rare diseases and today boasts a global presence, from Europe to the Middle East, the United States, Africa and South America.

However, the intensity of its growth efforts has not led to the neglect of other equally important aspects: from a social point of view, Recordati supports several associations dedicated to the care of patients, to improving the quality of life of patients, and to research projects and initiatives.

Business Problem

This process of growth and internationalisation of the Recordati Group has also necessitated the development of a system to better understand, measure and enhance the Group’s “human capital”; for this reason, in 2015-2016 Recordati launched, both in Italy and in all its foreign subsidiaries, a project relating to the Assessment of Competencies, with the aim of identifying and measuring, and then enhancing and disseminating, the distinctive skills that have marked the Group’s evolution over the years and that may lead it to success in the next challenges.

Appian Solution

In order to manage the individual assessment process, the Recordati Group has adopted a cloud platform, capable of guaranteeing the standardisation of processes on an international basis, the ease of use of the system, and the possibility of carrying out assessments involving several assessors.  Recordati uses Appian to manage the entire process of assessing the skills and potential of its managerial employees.  The application monitors and manages the various annual cycles and today involves around 250 top managers in the organisation, with the prospect of being progressively extended to the rest of the Group’s population. The solution has speeded up the process and provides consolidated reporting for the Group HR.
