The Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR) is a service company responsible for garbage collection, street cleaning, and waste treatment. With about 6,000 employees, the company is one of the largest employers in Berlin and the largest municipal waste disposal company in Germany.
Business Problem
BSR's IT department wanted to increase agility by releasing faster applications to reduce dependencies on the SAP system. In addition, adopting modern technologies makes BSR a more attractive employer, as such technologies offer ambitious IT professionals the opportunity to participate in digital transformation projects.
Appian Solution
Together with Appian, Bechtle, an IT specialist for the German public sector, won a Europe-wide tender to implement a solution for BSR. Appian and Bechtle developed an application to help coordinate stormwater inlet cleaning by mapping the process landscape.
