Appian 24.3 is here, and we couldn’t be more excited to share the latest AI updates. This release is about expanding the value of AI in Appian with new capabilities and compliance certifications.
AI has always brought with it the promise of “more:” more productivity, more speed, more convenience, and more knowledge. Appian is doubling down to bring you even more value with AI than ever before, applying it in practical ways that help you meet strategic organizational goals.
Let’s dive in.
In 24.2, we introduced our enterprise copilot. Enterprise copilot allows you to upload business documents and collect them in knowledge sets. From there, you can ask questions about information in these documents and receive answers quickly. For instance, an organization with a heavy regulatory burden could upload legislative and operational documents. Then, these employees could get insights from Appian AI Copilot to ensure they adhere to compliance requirements.
In our inaugural release, enterprise copilot focused on one knowledge set at a time. Now, you can search across all knowledge sets. The copilot will know the context whether you’re searching for compliance documentation, employee policies, or customer service procedures. Plus, enterprise copilot will cite the information’s location, giving you additional confidence in your answers.
Appian’s data fabric architecture offers a complete view of your enterprise data. Our data fabric insights capability lets you generate reports with a few clicks.
With this release, we’ve made gaining deep enterprise insights even easier with a preview of AI Copilot for data fabric (planned for GA in our next release). Simply ask a question in plain language, and AI Copilot will answer. No need to know which dataset contains the information—AI Copilot will understand the context and find the right answer for you. Plus, AI Copilot describes where it found the information and protects record-level security to prevent data leakage.
For example, let’s say you wanted to ask questions about open cases for your customer service team. You would simply:
This feature allows users to make smart decisions, faster.
Process HQ is your mission-control for enterprise processes. With Process HQ, you can gain key insights into your processes as they exist in the real world, allowing you to pinpoint areas for improvement and optimization.
But what if you don’t know where to begin? Or what happens if you’re investigating a process and miss something critical?
AI Copilot can help. With AI, it can create new views for you that emphasize the right data while eliminating the noise. Instead of having to create your own data filters, AI will infer how to find and present the data for you, saving you time and giving you the right data for your investigations.
Case Management Studio enables employees to create their own complex workflows using no-code. We’re now including more AI capabilities to help assist teams when building their workflows and processing cases.
First, users can get quick summaries of both case comments and PDF documents. Too often, employees spend extra time reading through comment threads or long PDFs to find critical information. Even just a few extra seconds can slow users down enough to be a drag on efficiency. These summaries give users context that can save them significant time and help them pinpoint the information they need faster.
Additionally, Case Management Studio is connected to Appian’s data fabric architecture. But you don’t have to be a data modeling expert to get the most out of Case Management Studio. Users can quickly converse with AI Copilot to build case management apps using data modeling best practices. Simply describe the data you want to capture, and it will recommend the right data to use. It will even explain its reasoning so users learn data modeling best practices as they build out their workflows.
Appian has long been committed to private AI. The Appian Platform touts an array of certifications, a testament to our long commitment to security and compliance.
We’re proud to announce that we’ve passed the stringent requirements for HITRUST for our AI features, including AI Skills, AI Copilot for business users, and AI Copilot for developers. HITRUST is a standardized framework for managing risk and sensitive data, and it is particularly helpful for complying with HIPAA. This enhances our ongoing commitment to offering safe, private AI that works across industries, from healthcare to financial services to the public sector and beyond.
Developers can now fully access the ability to automate test-case generation for expression rules using AI Copilot, including those with detailed inputs like maps, CDTs, and record types. This can save time while supporting broader test coverage by suggesting cases your team may not even have considered.
Artificial intelligence needs to have practical applications in the enterprise. As AI evolves, Appian will continue expanding its use across the platform and offering pragmatic, tangible features that improve productivity and effectiveness. And we’ll do so while maintaining our firm commitment to private AI and compliance.
