The Appian RPA 7.9 release unveils important new updates that make it easier for you to improve the speed and efficiency of your robotic process automation (RPA) workflows:
Feature: Manage multiple browser types in a single RPA execution.
- Problem solved: Sometimes complex workflows require the use of multiple browsers in a single automation. Does your process contain tasks that must be completed in legacy systems that can only be accessed on specific browsers (like Internet Explorer)? Does it also include tasks that must be executed in newer applications that might only function on Google Chrome? If so, you’ll benefit from an easier, more streamlined way to access and work within multiple browsers simultaneously.
- Positive Impact: Now, with Appian RPA, you can incorporate tasks that require access to multiple browser types (Appian RPA supports all browser types) into a single automated process.
Feature: Orchestrate individual item executions from process models.
- Problem solved: Whenever applications and systems are accessed within an RPA process, setup and cleanup steps must be performed to ensure the resiliency of the process. This becomes a time-constraint when a single process requires access to multiple systems and applications and can take up to 20 seconds to set up. When multiplied over thousands of processes, setup/cleanup time can reduce efficiency and prohibit RPA use in process models, leading to weaker automations.
- Positive impact: With Appian RPA 7.9, launching RPA executions from process models is more efficient and powerful because setup and cleanup tasks can be skipped in consecutive automations—leading to faster processing times for high-priority items, better resource utilization, and more robust exception handling.
Feature: Dynamic selection of RPA credentials.
- Problem solved: If your workflow requires running the same process in parallel across multiple resources, you might end up with system credentials that must be shared across executions. And since sharing credentials is often a violation of corporate policy, some organizations have had to duplicate robotic processes across resources, which adds overhead and technical debt.
- Positive impact: Now you can execute a robotic process concurrently from different resources, utilizing dynamically selected credentials and reducing the time it takes to set up, manage, and execute concurrently running processes.
