Business process management demands are shifting in response to the rise of cloud, mobile and enterprise social technologies in business settings. As companies strive to keep up with new operational requirements created by emerging technologies, BPM software functionality needs to respond. A recent iTWeb report explained that emerging trends in the BPM sector are helping organizations deal with the changing process management needs.

Adapting BPM solutions for shifting operational requirements

Industry expert Herbert Kindermann told the news source that many BPM solutions that depend too heavily on traditional architectures tend to have a difficult time keeping up with the challenges created by emerging technologies. It is increasingly important for companies to align business processes with IT capabilities, and givingworkers power over how they manage their day-to-day operations is more important. Innovative BPM platforms can offer this kind of functionality.

"The disruptive force in BPM today is subject-oriented BPM (S-BPM), whereby participants in the workplace contribute their knowledge to the BPM suite using tools made as simply as possible," Kindermann told iTWeb. "This enables BPM that is modular, uncomplicated and accurate, and importantly, allows businesses to make changes on the fly to adapt to changing market conditions."

Describing S-BPM tools, Kindermann explained that that the concept of S-BPM was noted in Gartner's Hype Cycle in recent years, and offers businesses the ability to adapt BPM plans to meet precise organizational requirements. He told the news source that S-BPM solutions show every indication of being central in the development of next-generation BPM suites.

According to Kindermann, the future of BPM centers around performance.

"BPM needs to be about performance - without efficiency and constant process improvement within an organization, an enterprise can destroy its profits," Kindermann told iTWeb. "S-BPM enables constant process improvement, as evidenced by several large organizations now adopting this model very successfully."
