The excitement is growing! We'll be heading down to Australia later this week and I am thrilled once again to be attending the most important financial services event of the year Sibos!
I've really enjoyed writing this blog series reflecting on Sibos 2017 in Toronto and exploring some of the important issues I expect we'll be discussing at length at this year's conference. For this final blog of the series, I wanted to offer some guidance for ensuring you'll get the most out of this phenomenal conference.
The International Convention Centre is massive, so it's well worth taking the virtual tour before you go, and be sure to download the app. When entering the convention centre, be prepared for security similar to what you experience at the airport. Don't worry if you forget your business cards this year's Smart Badges allow you to exchange your contact details with another delegate just by clicking your Sibos badges.
This year's conference theme is "Enabling the Digital Economy", and the speakers we will hear at Sibos are at the center of the innovations that are enabling the digital economy. Their creativity and innovation are paving the way for the connectivity among the people, businesses, devices, processes, and data that fuel our digital economy. The keynote speaker is the CEO from ANZ, Shayne Elliott. Mr. Elliot is also Chair of the Australian Bankers' Association. Throughout the course of the conference we'll hear from Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank, Mastercard, Credit Suisse, Citi, Wells Fargo, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the list goes on and on.
The welcome cocktail reception and closing party are always fantastic, so definitely don't miss those. Located on level L4, the Sibos Restaurant is the place to refuel amid a busy day of networking and taking in presentations. Also, the Sibos Garden looks intriguing they're offering sun rise business-suit Tai Chi and ice cream throughout the day. If you're interested in what innovations the latest FinTechs are working on, they'll be at the Discover zone, which is the Sibos FinTech marketplace. Innotribe will be showcasing innovations around blockchain, quantum computing and the impact of AI.
We look forward to seeing you at Sibos at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Sydney from October 22-25. We are thrilled to be presenting with our long-time customer Barclays Bank on Wednesday, 24 October at 12:15 in open theatre #2 on level four of the convention centre. Join us as we discuss "Security as a Competitive Advantage Depends on a Holistic Strategy."
Hear how Barclays has removed security silos and implemented a strategy to ensure that security and trust are part of their DNA. This holistic approach sets them apart and enables them to not only win customers but build advocates for future business. Barclays will share their approach to embedding security into product designs and functionality, and evolving their security operations to meet the shifting adversary landscape. This session will highlight recent responses to the increase in technologically-advanced cyber-criminal gangs, nation state sponsors, hacker groups and hacktivists and describe how Appian, through our low code platform, has given Barclays the ability to build applications much faster.
