INNOVATIVE CLAIMS MANAGEMENT LEADER RECOGNIZED FOR MOBILE SUCCESS

Reston, Va.— November 11, 2013 —Appian, the market leader in modern business process management (BPM) software, congratulates Crawford & Company (NYSE: CRDA; CRDB), the world’s largest independent provider of claims management solutions, for Crawford’s 2013 Forrester Groundswell Award win. Crawford’s Appian-based CAT-Connection application was named the overall winner in the new “Mobility – Business to Employee” category.

Every year since 2007, the Forrester Groundswell Awards have recognized the very best social (and now mobile) programs from around the world. This year, there were nearly 150 entries representing the most innovative and valuable enterprise programs in Business-to-Consumer (B2C), Business-to-Business (B2B), and Business-to-Employee (B2E) divisions.

“Once again we received many outstanding examples of how companies are empowering employees with mobile and social business programs,” said Forrester Vice President and Principal Analyst, Ted Schadler. “The entries in both categories this year highlight a growing sophistication in how companies are applying these technologies to transform their operations. The 2013 winners successfully engage their workforce with mobile and social technologies to solve customer and business problems.”

When global disasters strike, the world’s major insurance carriers count on Crawford & Company for rapid claims management. Whether it’s hurricanes in the US, tsunamis in Japan or earthquakes in Chile, Crawford must deploy a small army of claims adjusters to conduct business in the world’s most devastated regions. Crawford has used the Appian BPM Suite to build CAT Connection, a mobile app that accelerates claims management and uptake in the field through the combination of process management, enterprise data navigation, social collaboration and the ability to take business action regardless of a claim adjuster’s physical location. The app is part of Crawford Community, an Appian-based social application to centralize all disaster-related resource management.

“With Crawford Community and CAT Connection we are changing how quickly and effectively the insurance industry can respond to the people displaced by major catastrophes,” said Brian Flynn, Global CIO and Executive Vice President at Crawford & Company. “These applications demonstrate how mobility and social collaboration accelerate business and drive value when they are rooted in core enterprise data and processes.”

The Appian BPM Suite is a modern work platform that empowers all employees in an organization to make smart and efficient decisions, and take rapid business action. Appian discovers and unites enterprise data, connects users through social and collaborative engagement in the context of business data, and provides the leading BPM platform to execute business processes, enforce rules, and ensure all actions taken by users are in accordance with corporate policies and procedures. Appian delivers its full suite capabilities on-premise and in the cloud, on the desktop and on all major mobile device platforms.

“Crawford & Company is a highly-innovative organization that understands the business performance and customer experience opportunities presented by mobile and social business process management,” said Matt Calkins, President and CEO at Appian. “We heartily congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition from Forrester Research.”
