Appian 23.1: Design Total Experiences and Unify Processes for End-to-End Process Automation

In today's fast-paced and increasingly unpredictable business environment, it's more important than ever for you to deliver value with fewer resources. Modern enterprise process automation platforms are the key to connecting your people, processes, and data and unlocking operational efficiencies.

Appian 23.1 delivers a total experience.

Delivering a total experience is about creating superior experiences for all users—including your customers’ customers, known and unknown users, and your employees—across web and mobile devices. These initiatives unify customer and employee experiences across digital touchpoints to improve overall efficiency and satisfaction.

The latest updates in Appian 23.1 make it easier to quickly build fully integrated, customer-worthy web portals for users inside and outside your organization.

With 23.1, we’ve made it easier to work with data in portals. We simplified the design experience so you can now create a portal without building any custom integrations. And you can further empower your audiences with the ability to start processes and query records directly from a portal.

Portals styling: header bar and pages.

We’ve also made it easier than ever to build a great user experience. Now, you can add a header bar to your portal and style it to match your brand, giving you greater design flexibility and the ability to deliver a consistent experience across your audience’s journey. Use pages within the header to provide easier navigation and richer experiences to your audiences as well. All with no code to keep you moving fast.

Connect all systems with data fabric.

Appian’s data fabric unifies data from multiple systems to enable secure and easy access to enterprise data and deliver a 360-degree view of the business.

A unified data fabric dramatically reduces the time required to deliver new applications, simplifies system integrations, and empowers more users to securely build new digital solutions with enterprise data.

In 23.1, we have continued to enhance data fabric security to make it even simpler to secure your enterprise data without writing any code.

Centralized Record Security

You can now secure all aspects of your records in one location. We have added the security section to your record type where you can quickly specify who can see what records with record-level security. You can also choose which record views users and groups can see, as well as the actions they can take.

No-code security rules.

We’ve also made it easier to set up and maintain your security configurations. With our no-code security rules inside the record views, you can select users and/or groups to specify when views appear. This further secures your data and ensures only the right people have access to it.

Process automation and low-code.

Process automation and low-code updates in 23.1 help you streamline and unify workflows to continually improve how your organization operates.

Design library.

In 23.1 we’ve introduced a new tab in the interface palette that lets you drag and drop components from a predefined design library so you can seamlessly incorporate your design standards across any interface. With this new feature, your organization can curate a collection of tailor-made layouts and components that allow you to easily govern interface design, promote best practices, and create a consistent user experience in every application.

Robotic process automation (RPA): Automatic sign-in.

Robotic process automation (RPA) alongside API integrations ensures all enterprise systems can be brought into an end-to-end process automation. In 23.1, you can now allow Appian to sign into your virtual machines on demand and automatically to execute your robotic tasks. This gives you greater flexibility for using your bots without compromising security.
