Texas DPS transforms award management with Appian AI

The Texas Department of Public Safety Office of Procurement and Contract Services is responsible for the acquisition of all the goods and services used by the agency. The office was using several nonintegrated systems to manage hundreds of contracts, which led to a slow, manual contract award process.

To streamline this end-to-end process, TXDPS implemented Appian’s Government Award Management solution. Deployed in just three months by Deloitte, the platform enables TXDPS to easily manage contract options, deliverables, amendments, uploads, and renewals. After migrating over 15,000 contract actions, the agency now provides more than 10,000 stakeholders with centralized access to critical contract information.

Appian Award Management gives federal contracting organizations and program management offices the power to manage all contract award processes, activities, and data in a compliant, consistent, and reportable way. The application guides contracting and program office staff through the award management process and ensures that the process fully complies with the FAR/DFARS, agency supplements, and agency policies.

To answer procurement questions quickly without interrupting the team's work, they implemented a secure AI system that searches their proprietary knowledgebase and provides accurate answers in seconds. This work earned national recognition with an AI 50 award from the Center for Public Sector AI for its responsible and effective use of AI.
