Premier BPM Software Conference Shines Spotlight on Mobile, Social and Cloud Business Process Management

Reston, Va.— May 7, 2013 —Appian, the market leader in modern business process management (BPM) software, today announced that Appian World 2013 drew the largest audience yet for the company’s annual user and BPM community conference. More than 750 registrants, from 225 unique organizations across 17 countries and 18 industries, gathered at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. to discuss the convergence of mobile, social and cloud technologies in the business environment.

Changing How Work Gets Done
Worksocial from Appian changes how work gets done by combining business process management, social collaboration, native mobile access, and portable cloud delivery into a single platform. At the conference, business and IT leaders from large commercial organizations, federal and state government agencies, labor unions and other non-profits shared their worksocial success stories, best-practices and lessons-learned. Appian customer presenters included CIOs and other leaders from Crawford & Company, GSA Public Building Service, Enterprise Holdings, Bank of Tennessee, PPD, Punch Taverns, EDP Renewables NA, 407 ETR, Ohio Office of Budget and Management, and Laborers International Union of North America.

Product and Service Innovations
Appian unveiled three new ground-breaking technology innovations and service offerings at the conference. Chief among those is Appian Records, a monumental advance for accelerating business performance in a data-driven world. Appian Records brings a new level of ease to enterprise data navigation, orchestration, collaboration, and reporting. Through a simple social interface, business users can easily manage, access and update the data they need to do their jobs – regardless of where that data resides. Appian also announced its revolutionary Self-Assembling Interface Layer (Appian SAIL), which dramatically changes mobile BPM development by allowing users to write an Appian application once, and instantly deploy it on all major mobile devices. The third announcement was a service offering, Appian Labs, designed to ensure that Appian remains in close contact and partnership with all customers, regardless of whether that customer’s Appian program is managed in-house or through an Appian re-seller/integrator partner.

Appian Innovation Awards
Appian CEO Matt Calkins closed the first day of the conference by announcing the winners of the Appian Innovation Awards 2013. These awards recognize excellence in deploying innovative worksocial solutions. This year’s winners were:

  • Cognizant, for their deployment of Appian for Enterprise Holdings, Inc.’s Enterprise Rideshare solution
  • Easynex, for their deployment of Appian at premier Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli
  • iTG, for their deployment of Appian for the GSA Public Building Service

“Appian customers and partners are true innovators who are using our platform to transform operations, engage customers and drive growth,” said Calkins. “Appian World 2013 was a showcase for the next stage of modern business process management.”
