Enterprise technology has its fingerprints across nearly every major industry. But, perhaps nowhere do we see this more evident than in the healthcare/life sciences space.

When looking at the industries that have embraced enterprise IT, healthcare presents the most exciting opportunities for how technology and the human element of such advances can revolutionize operations.

Modernizedcase management allows for better coordinated care between doctors and patients through immediate access to complete patient recordsconverged from across multiple systems. Fixed business rules and automation have created more accuracy for quality and regulatory compliance in the pharmacovigilance space.

And as the Internet of Things continues to make headlines, we see prototypes and sensors that may soon be able to track when patients take their medications, or the development of portable health monitoring devices that will enable a healthier lifestyle.

The 6th Annual SCOPE Summit, taking place next week, February 24-26th in Orlando, FL, will offer three stimulating days of in-depth discussions focused on issues related to aspects of healthcareplanning and management. Focused discussions will include in-depth conversations on the following: Data Integration, Feasibility, Site Selection and Management, Patient Engagement, Recruitment and Retention, Mobile Tech, Project Management, Forecasting, Quality (QbD) in Trial Conduct, Risk-Based Monitoring, Post-Marketing Studies, and Pharmacovigilance.

Michael Robbins, Global Head & Associate Director, Clinical BPM at Sanofi, will be featured as a guest speaker during the program session titled, "Data & Process in Clinical Trial Study Start-up: The Importance of Awareness, Knowledge AND Action."

Sanofi, a global healthcare leader, discovers, develops and distributes therapeutic solutions focused on patients' needs and employs nearly 17,000 professionals across the United States. Core practice area strengths of the company include diabetes solutions, human vaccines, innovative drugs, consumer healthcare, and emerging markets.

During his presentation, Robbins will examine a range of approaches to handling the ever changing world of clinical studies. Current solutions focus on a data-centric approach with some process, while others focus on process-centric approaches with a little bit of data. At Sanofi, both data and process need to be viewed as first class citizens. Robbins will discuss how the organization has begunto move away from an application view of the world, to a topic centric approach, focusing on the way people want to work - through awareness, knowledge and action.

There is still time to register for what promises to be a premium healthcare IT event. And if you are attending the summit, make sure to stop by and see the Appian team at booth No. 33!
