AutoMatrix: Rise of the Low-Code Rebels

FLASH FORWARD FUTURE.

INTERIOR SHOT. BASEMENT HALLWAY. CAMERA PANS IN ON:

Door slowly opening to dimly-lit office.

We see a computer sitting on a desk. Asolitary cursor pulses like a heartbeat in the middle of the screen. Suddenly the screen flows with columns of green numbers like a Vegas slot machine. Up in the corner of the screen, a fixed four-digit number pops into place. It's the date: 2322. Then, rows of green text slowly crawl up from the bottom of the screen:

"Long before the reign of the evil AutoMatrix empire, machines and algorithmscreated millions of jobs and added trillions of dollars to the global economy. But in the dawn of the 24th century, things went sideways. Humankind was dominated by a global system of super-intelligent machines called the AutoMatrix. The machines controlled more dimensions of human life than anyone ever imagined. But a fringe movement known as the Low-Code Underground had a long-held prophecy: From a secret chamber, a brave tribe of low-code warriors would come to challenge the tyranny of the sinister AutoMatrix."

DOOR CLOSES.

DISSOLVE TO NEXT SCENE.

PAN IN ON:

Trio of low-code rebels meeting secretly. We see Theo, a mild-mannered software developer by day and a legendary low-code hacker by night. He's wearing dark shades and a black leather trench coat. Standing next to him is Kool Monk, wearing dark shades and a black cyberpunk jacket, followed by the fierce, black-latex-clad, warrior Vogue. The rebels have discovered a fatal glitch in the AutoMatrix. Fearing defeat, the guardians of the AutoMatrix are building a new quantum algorithm to crush the low-code rebels once and for all.

But the evil system is on borrowed time.

FADE OUT.

INTERIOR SHOT:

Lobby of AutoMatrix, Inc.A tour of the futuristic building is in progress. A tour guide leads a group of tourists through the lobby.

TOUR GUIDE

"Welcome to the global headquarters of the AutoMatrix. My name is Nia and I'm the Chief Truth Officer of the AutoMatrix. I'll be your tour guide today. The AutoMatrix was established in 2220, after the explosion of quantum computing created a world without work."

The group continues through the lobby.

NIA:

"The rebels believe the AutoMatrix has taken away your freedom to innovate. But that's a hoax. With the power of quantum computing, the AutoMatrix has created a global system of machines and algorithms that has brought more progress to the 24th century than any other period in human history. The truth is, we've experienced more progress in machines doing routine work faster, smarter and more efficiently than anyone ever imagined. And then there are the algorithms that have displaced the "zombie" jobs that required no creativity or imagination. And what else does the AutoMatrix do?"

A tourist answers the question.

TOURIST 1

"It protects us."

NIA

"That's right. The AutoMatrix protects us from the rebels who seek to destroy our progress."

TOURIST 2

"Does the AutoMatrix ever make a mistake?"

NIA

"Never. The AutoMatrix is infallible."

Nia moves toward an elevator with the group in tow.

NIA

"Everybody, just step this way."

SMASH CUT TO:

COMPUTER SCREEN. INTERNET CHAT ROOM-- NIGHT

A conversation is in progress.

REBEL 1:

"The guardians of the AutoMatrix want us to bow down to the machines that make us humans obsolete.

REBEL 2:

"But the Movement will free us from the machines."

REBEL 3:

"I've heard that story before."

REBEL 2:

"It's true. It's in the prophecy: The Movement will create a world where humans and machines collaborate, and where human empathy and trust is valued."

REBEL 3:

"You're drinking the cool-aid, bro. That's just happy talk, a myth."

REBEL 1:

"No bro, the Movement knows things that you don't. The AutoMatrix is not invincible, bro. It's going down!"

REBEL 2:

"Honestly, bro. Our lowcoders are building anti-AutoMatrix applications at hyper speed, 20x faster than ever before... Wait, I'm getting an alert. Something's about to go down. I've gotta go."

REBEL 3:

"Cool. See you on the other side."

INTERIOR SHOT. BASEMENT HALLWAY.

A door opens at end of hallway. Tight shot of low-code rebels. They're on-line inside a secret chat room where low-coders hang out. Theo sits harnessed in a chair. He reaches for the telepathic headset next to the computer in front him and puts it on. Vogue sits beside him. In the other chair, Kool Monk. Using the headset, Theo manipulates the icons on the computer screen at blinding speed, creates an app and hacks into the AutoMatrix. He downloads the doomsday code The Movement needs to defeat the evil system. The code surges through his brain at a furious rate. He slams back against the chair as adrenaline surges through his body. He removes the headset. His eyes snap open. He looks up at the digital clock on the wall. Two-twenty a.m. Twenty minutes to go. He swivels his chair around and rises to his feet.

VOGUE:

"So, now what?"

THEO:

"We have a new mission from The Low-Code Underground."

KOOL MONK:

"Sounds like we've got a lot to do."

VOGUE:

"It's time to end this AutoMatrix nightmare."

THEO:

"I know what needs to be done."

Vogue smiles. So does Kool Monk.

THEO:

"Let's do this."

Vogue and Kool Monk follow Theo out of the chamber.

DOOR CLOSES.

FADE OUT:

ROLLUP crawls into view.

"No one would have believed in the early years of the 21st century, that our world was being watched by a secret network of super-intelligent machines, like bacteria under a microscope. As humans went about their routine tasks, the sinister machines watched and waited and plotted against them. But from the moment the machines took control, they were doomed by a movement of digital rebels who believed humans should be served, not ruled by machines."

FADE TO BLACK.

THE END.
