Appian Hosts Women in Technology "Meet the Company" Night

When it comes to New Year's resolutions for your profession, more networking is always at the top of the list. Nowis a great time to get out there and get acquainted with your industry peers, sharing best practices, tips for success, or just what's new at a colleague's company.

Last week, Appian sponsored a Women in Technology (WIT) "Meet the Company" event at our office headquarters in Reston, Va. The event provided professionals with varying levels of technology experience an opportunity to hear first-hand how Appian has established itself as a top technology vendor in the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC area.

WIT seeks to empower women to be architects of change in the technology industry. With programming for technical professionals, executive management, business owners, and students, WIT provides the opportunity for all women to learn and connect to move their careers forward.

With more than 50 professionals in attendance,Appian Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder, Michael Beckley, provided an overview of Appian, including the latest updates of the Appian product and its emergence as a world leader in application platforms. Just as important as the Appian product, Beckley describedlife at Appian and the positive environment the company has created for its employees.He stressed that at Appian the best idea wins, regardless of job title, andhow the company was founded on a unique culture, where every employee has the right to amaze.

"Appian continues to attract and retain emerging talent that is necessary to drive a culture of innovation," said Beckley. "Our goal from dayone has always been to ensure an excellent customer experience, but at the same time, we recognize that is only possible by creating an environment in which your employees have every opportunity to flourish."

Amy Henley, Director of Partners and Channels at Appian, also spoke during the event and detailed the Appian Women's Leadership Program.The program's charter is to increase mentorship and professional development opportunities, provide forums for internal and external networking and knowledge-sharing, and advance the role of women leaders within Appian and across the software industry. The Women's Leadership Programtargetsopportunities to engage the larger software industry through guest-lectures and panel participation from local and national female industry leaders.
