As the year draws to a close, it's time to hand out some awards!

And that was exactly the case at last week's Gartner BPM Summit in Las Vegas, as Crawford and Company took home honors as a 2014 North America Business Process Management Excellence award winner.

The results from more than 30 Appian-based applications around the globe have enabled Crawford & Company, the world's largest independent provider of claims management solutions, to accelerate overall claims management by as much as 80 percent, speed customer billing by almost 70 percent, and deliver a better experience for its customers, and its customers' policyholders.

Earlier this year, Crawford and Company was recognizedby theWorkflow Management Coalition (WFMC) and BPM.com for outstanding Global Case Management Excellence.

When disaster strikes, Crawford and Company must be on the front lines of catastrophe management. The organization must deploy claims adjusters to the world's most devastated regions affected by natural disasters, such as hurricanes and tsunamis, so life can begin to return to normal as quickly as possible.

Crawford and Company leverages an application platform approach to modernize business action across core processes to improve overall performance and increase customer satisfaction. Using technology advancements of the Appian BPM Suitesuch as mobile access and social collaboration, the organization is able to respond faster than ever to those who need their assistance the most.

"Crawford & Company is honored to be recognized for our enterprise-wide approach to transforming operations and customer service," said Brian Flynn, Global Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President, Crawford & Company. "Appian's modern application platform is a key component in our goal of providing better service to our customers."

Solutions deployed on the enterprise-wide application platform include the Catastrophe Unit Personnel Tracker (CAT PT) mobile application. CAT PT allows Crawford to "crowd-source" adjuster teams on-the-fly to review a claim, based on location, capacity and a past performance scorecard. Adjusters then use the same mobile app to upload photos of a claim site, along with electronic claim forms directly from an iPad, iPhone, or Android phone.

Appian heartily congratulates Crawford and Company on another well-deserved recognition!
