Mobility key to performance

Modern businesses have to ensure a variety of factors are in place to optimize workflow and employee performance. From high-tech communications solutions to the right process management software, these tools have to conform to enterprise needs but also provide flexibility to accommodate varying work styles and desires of professionals.

One of the largest influences on workplace productivity is the mobile, highly connected world that we live in today. Mobile connected devices are expected to exceed the global population this year, with over 7 billion smartphones and tablets in circulation. Additionally, mobile data traffic is projected to grow at a CAGR of 66 percent from 2012 to 2017. With more people utilizing mobile technology, and those devices being more powerful than ever, it is key for companies to invest in the right tools that incorporate the advantages they can offer into the workplace - mobile business process management.

Apple's latest smartphone offering, the iPhone 5S, even incorporates the first 64-bit mobile CPU - a sign of the growing power of mobile devices. With smartphones nearly as powerful as desktop PCs and laptops, there is no reason for professionals to not be able to do their jobs on these smaller, more convenient devices. However, companies have to have the support solutions in place to manage and optimize workflow, whether they have adopted mobility or not. Investing in mobile BPM solutions will provide key support and growth.

The BYOD trend in particular is an important one for companies to pay close attention to. The ability to adapt and reduce IT costs by allowing employees to use their personal devices demands a powerful business process management solution to go with them. This will help keep enterprise data secure and employees on task, while promoting productivity and efficiency gains at the same time.

Going mobile isn't necessarily a new trend, but what professionals are capable of accomplishing on their devices is always expanding. Acknowledging the importance of a high-quality mobile solution and adopting the right software to support it will enhance workflow and many other areas of operation that drive profits and job satisfaction as a whole. Businesses that have already invested in BPM software should consider integrating mobile devices with their solutions and those that haven't need to weigh the advantages of adopting this powerful trend for themselves.
