IT generation gap closed by social, mobile and cloud

One problem many businesses encounter is a generation gap in the IT department. Older workers know the unique needs of the company, while younger ones are more adept at integrating new ideas. This is caused not by a difference in skill, but in the varying technology eras the two camps represent, and for most companies the trick is to get the two working together seamlessly. According to Manufacturing.net, the latest social, mobile and cloud trends are helping to bridge the divide.

With new social, mobile and cloud hitting businesses and affecting their processes, younger and older IT professionals are working more closely together to optimize workflow. The news sourced noted that these camps need to accept the strengths and weaknesses of one another and break down those walls in order to work as a cohesive unit. By working more closely together and listening to each other, this can be accomplished with ease. However, this solves the IT generation gap, not the ability of firms to adapt to the trends.

Investing in high-end BPM software will help firms adjusting to social, mobile and cloud trends do so quickly and efficiently. By examining the three individual trends, companies will be able to focus their efforts and optimize their approach to each.

Cloud BPM

Integrating business process management solutions with cloud deployment allows firms to automate the lesser aspects of these services and ensure they are optimizing workflow around cloud adoption. Rather than investing in on-premise BPM, companies will be able to streamline their improvement of business processes and do so without the startup costs of hardware and software, as this will be handled within the cloud.

Mobile BPM

Investing in a mobile BPM solution, on the other hand, will streamline integration of mobile devices into the workplace as productive, effective tools for operations. Mobility is in high-demand and integrated solutions for business process management will help eliminate any disconnect between workflow and the devices themselves.

Social BPM

Social trends may perhaps be the most disruptive that many companies encounter currently, and social enterprise software can be incredibly beneficial, or ineffective if the right approach isn't taken. Social BPM tools ensure that firms are able to integrate the benefits of social networking, such as real-time collaboration, with general work processes without affecting productivity or operational integrity.

While these trends may be helping to bring IT teams together despite generation gaps, the right tools are still needed to achieve success in the individual areas.
