It's nice when doing well and doing good coincide. That's the case for Appian with a new application being rolled out to the U.S. Army. The application,called Wounded Warrior, uses our BPM softwareto help speed rehabilitation for U.S. soldiers wounded in the line of duty. It was developed by our partner CollabraLink, and it leverages Appian's out-of-the-box Case Management capabilities.
Wounded Warrior accelerates the processes for on-boarding, diagnosis and rehabilitation of injured U.S. soldiers at military Warrior Transition Units (WTUs). The application has been piloted at 7 WTUs, and will ultimately be rolled out to the 38 WTUs around the country.
Injured soldiers brought in from the field are automatically on-boarded into the WTU system through Wounded Warrior. The application provides the central interface for the soldier and all treatment professionals to develop and monitor a rehabilitation plan specific to that soldier's needs. This includes a health self-assessment, which is verified and approved bya primary care physician. The assessment is then automatically routed to the soldier's case manager or occupational therapist for creation of an appropriate transition plan. The soldier can reviewhis/her progress toward plan milestones through the interactive interface, with verification provided along the way by the treatment professionals involved. When Wounded Warrior reports the transition program has been completed successfully, an appropriate decision about redeployment is made.

Integrated Enterprise Content Management, Ad-Hoc and Dynamic Process Management, Collaboration, and Data Reporting capabilities ensure a comprehensive end-to-end solution for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Process automationremoves common administrative burdens of pushing paper and ensuring authorizations and approvals. Appian's 100 percent web architecture and easy-to-use portal interface ensures that the soldier and all required healthcare professionals can actively participate in the process.
Brigadier General Gary H. Cheek, Commander of the Army's Warrior Transition Command, cites Wounded Warrior as an example of the U.S. Army using the latest technology to deliver the highest level of care to the members of U.S. Armed Forces.
