Santa Clara, CA & Reston, VA—December 10, 2015— In a powerful demonstration of how platforms and software-driven solutions can drive digital initiatives for organizations, Persistent Systems (BSE & NSE: PERSISTENT) and Appian celebrated the 1-year anniversary of their Columbus, OH Center of Excellence with a customer-focused hackathon. The 24-hour competition matched development teams from Persistent in a competition to create applications that could be immediately implemented by the sponsoring customers. The hackathon was an example of Appian’s Adopt Now program – a unique implementation approach to jumpstart new Appian solution areas by accelerating a first production release – bolstered by the “Persistent Way”, a unique, Agile implementation approach focusing on quickly releasing technology solutions to production.

The problem statements solved at the hackathon included:

  • Automate the complete deployment workflow for any Appian application, utilizing Appian Public APIs to inspect and import packages into a specific Appian environment without requiring a deployment team member to login to the Appian environment to complete the deployment.
  • From an end-user perspective, “Establish Enterprise Reference Data” as part of their Appian based applications in order to avoid duplicating data and establish better data governance by providing systematic way to manage the reference data.
  • Create a lifecycle tool that can take a project from the intake process, through governance review, into requirements gathering, resulting in design and deployment.
  • Build a Claim Management System in order to use rules and take actions like sending notifications and kicking workflows based on the configurable business rules.
